Hours: 12 months fixed term maternity cover contract 37.5 hours over 5 days, including weekends

Description: The role of Aquarist is to assist the Senior Aquarist in the day to day management of animal husbandry using a hands on approach, ensuring all exhibits are maintained to the highest standard of animal welfare and aesthetics. Back of house maintenance including food ordering and stock levels ensuring a consistent supply of feed.

Main Duties

To assist with the completion of zoological displays development projects within set budgets and timescales.

Support the Senior Aquarist to ensure that Seaquarium Weston-Super-Mare adheres to all applicable regulatory frameworks requirements such as Zoo Licence H&S; and COSHH.

To assist in the managing and supervision of work experience, volunteers and 'Aquarist for the day' placements.

To give a full programme of talks, workshops, educational classes, tours and activities to our visitors on the on the daily basis.

Creating a welcoming and entertaining atmosphere within the Aquarium and encourage guest interaction and participation throughout the day
