Fishy Poles

On our planet we have a north pole called the Arctic and a south pole called the Antarctic. They are some of the coldest places on Earth and are covered in snow and ice. Not many people live there as it is too cold, however there are lots of animals that survive in these freezing conditions.

Puffin
Puffins can be found in the Arctic. During the breeding season
they come together in large colonies.

Arctic Fox
Arctic Foxes can be found across many parts
of the Arctic, usually wherever Seals and Polar
Bears are present in and on ice floes.

Emperor Penguins
Emperor Penguins live on the continent of Antarctica, and, unlike other birds, they do not migrate in the winter to
warmer countries.

Beluga Whale
Beluga Whales are found in the Arctic Ocean. They are very social animals and live in pods of about 10. During migrations, several pods may join together, forming groups of 200-10,000.

Leopard Seal
Leopard Seals are usually found near the Antarctic pack ice. They are solitary, only gathering in groups during the breeding
season. Their only real predator is the Killer Whale.

Walrus
Walruses live on ice floes in shallow waters of the Artic. They spend most of their lives under the sea.
