Ugh! Week - February Half Term (9th - 17st February 2013)
Discover more about the slimiest and most disgusting marine animals and why their weird habits are key to their survival. You’ll be able to learn more about some of the strange animals in the ocean in our touchpool area, where our brand new anemone and coral displays will show you just how amazing these weird creatures are. If you’re lucky you may to meet one of our 2ft spider crabs. Even the seals want to get in on the act doing their best impressions of slimy slugs!
St David’s Day - (1st March 2013)
Learn more about some of the amazing marine life that Wales has to offer. Come and find out about our native sharks and rays and why Wales is great place to find a diverse range of animals you never thought were there!
Predators Week - (23rd-29th March)
Come face to face with some of the oceans ultimate predators and learn how they use their amazing skills to catch their prey. Find out more about our deadly Lionfish, speedy seals and just how many senses a shark uses to hunt its prey. Solo, one of our South African Fur Seals, may even show off her shark impression during our daily displays and there will also be talks and feeds taking place all day.
Mothers Day (10th March 2013)
Find out how to identify a female shark or ray and see the eggs that they have carefully laid, you can even see the babies moving inside. Our talk’s staff will also be on hand to tell you all about our fishy mums and who has the longest pregnancy in the underwater world.
April Fool's Day (1st April 2013)
Come and see some amazing creatures that use amazing ways to fool their prey or predators everyday of the year; from flatfish buried in the sand to amazing colour changing octopus.
Easter Egg Hunt and Baby Boom - (23rd March – 7th April 2013)
& Easter Weekend - (30rd March - 1st April 2013)
This Easter, discover the different breeding strategies animals have adopted to survive in the marine world and meet some of our new baby sharks and rays. See how many shark eggs you can spot, if you look closely you can even see the babies in the egg and if you are really lucky we may have some beautiful baby seahorses, an exact miniature of mum and dad only a few millimetres long. Or our new baby axolotls in their very own tank next to their parents. Our talk’s staff will also be happy to tell you all about fishy childcare.
Claws Weekend (4th - 6th May 2013)
Come and see all of our clawed animals, including the most famous of all Captain Claws the bright blue lobster. If you are lucky you can even touch one of our 2ft spider crabs, the strongest crab in Britain the edible crab during our daily touch pool demonstrations.
World Turtle Day - (23rd May 2013)
Celebrate World Turtle day at SeaQuarium and learn interesting facts about Turtles and Tortoises including ways to help them survive and thrive!
World Ocean Day (8th June 2013)
Come celebrate world ocean day and learn more about the diversity that can be found in our seas and why we need to preserve it for the generations to come. Together we have the power to protect the oceans!
Father’s Day (16th June 2013)
Discover more about the fishy fathers and the ultimate underwater dad the seahorse who works so hard to protect his young he even carries and gives birth to them himself and the clownfish who lovingly cleans his eggs every day before they hatch.
Pirates Weekend August Bank Holiday (24th - 26th August 2013)
Get a taste of our pirate show where we need your help to choose our new Captain of Deadmans cove so we can try to escape this island. Don’t forget to purchase your pirate memorabilia in the gift shop on your way out!!
Back to School Science Weekend (27th August – 1th Sept 2013)
Ease your kids back into school life with a trip to the SeaQuarium. All week we are offering you the chance to learn how we test our water quality and keep it clean, and find out more about the science behind the scenes of a public aquarium. So come along and be educated and entertained at the Rhyl SeaQuarium. You can even buy your back to school gear at our gift shop and start the new term with our unique ocean stationary!!
Beach clean (20th – 23rd Sept 2013)
Learn why it is important to keep our local beaches clean and more about the creatures that live in the rock pools and just off our coast line. You can also come and help with our organised beach clean in support of the Marine Conservation Society.
Pirates Week - October Half Term (26th Oct – 3rd Nov 2013)
Come and help our stranded shipmates decide who their new Captain should be to plan an escape from Deadmans cove. The SeaQuarium will be transformed into a pirating adventure for the whole week and we hope you will get into the spirit of things.
Halloween - (31st October 2013)
Why not come to the SeaQuarium for a spooky visit with our entertaining pirate show, Halloween games and lots of sweets. But don’t forget to keep an eye out for the ghost of Captain Greenbeard who returns to haunt his ship, the sea witch, this time every year.
Christmas Party Time (November and December 2013)
Why not have a Christmas Party with a difference this year. Your group will be treated to a guided tour of the aquarium, watch our seals being trained, enjoy a full Christmas Dinner, with a choice of menus and all the trimmings. If you’re lucky, you may even get a visit from Father Christmas himself!!
