The “Hands On” team are available throughout the day to bring you closer to many of our creatures and to share their unique experiences of caring for the animals at SeaQuarium! If you’ve ever wanted to know what an anemone feels like or what a Mermaid’s purse is, don’t miss our touch pool interactions. You can get Hands On throughout the day and add a personal touch to your visit by creating a hand made souvenir to take home during our sea themed creative play activities.
The “Hands On” team create new and exciting sessions for every event and occasion so keep an eye on the events listing to see what is coming up.

Be amazed……by our weird & wonderful creatures!
Here is where you will start your journey………
EvoZone
See the distant relatives of the creatures that made
the first steps onto dry land after millions of years of
evolution. Learn about the archerfish which has evolved
to use jets of water from its mouth to knock off
insects from plants above the water. What about our lizards
and turtles? Learn more about how all of these
creatures have adapted to their surroundings!
Before you reach the next zone, you will get a sneak peak of the Ocean Depths Zone that awaits you.
Freshwater Zone
Have a glimpse into the wide variety of habitats found around our rivers and the fish that live within them.
Tropical Reef Zone
Marvel at the carnival of colours within the reef fish tanks. Including Puffer fish, Lionfish, Moray Eels, Cat shark, colourful tangs and many more other tropical species all in naturally themed exhibits. These reef fish are fed algae substitutes to keep them healthy every morning during our Hands On encounters.
Dr Cods
Come and explore the Marine Life found right on our doorstep during a Dr Cods Rock pool touch encounter with the Hands On team. If you’ve ever wanted to know what an anemone feels like or what a Mermaid’s purse is, don’t miss the opportunity to see for yourself.
Once again, you have another opportunity to view our Ocean Depths Zone, step into our specially designed walk-in-window and really feel like you are deep beneath the surface as our British Marine creatures swim all around.
New for 2013 – Out of the Blue
Discover the wonderful world of jellyfish and understand these beautiful creatures in our new area ‘Out of the Blue’ containing 2 species of Jellyfish. Named for their ghostly, translucent bells the moon jellies (Aurelia aurita) have delicate bodies that pulse and drift with the effortless grace of a ballerina. Also displayed is the Upside down jellyfish (Cassiopea sp.) which are not like any other jellyfish. Pink with blue patterns on their tentacles they prefer to keep their flattened bells on the sea floor with their tentacles raised.
Ray Zone
Come along and see our beautiful, fascinating and friendly British Marine Rays and their friends within our open ray exhibit where you can see our NEW baby Thornback rays swimming in their Ray nursery.
Rainforest River Zone
You don’t have to go to the Rainforests of the World to see the mysteries of these mighty rivers – we’ve brought them to see you! Including the infamous Red Bellied Piranhas and baby freshwater Stingrays. Learn more about these wonderful landscapes that are slowly being destroyed. Also featuring the stunning Snake Neck Turtles, South African Cichlids and many, many more.
Crustacean Cove
Come face to face with the bizarre world of Crustaceans. Meet the home stealing Hermits, the Lively Lobsters, cleaning shrimps and many, many more wonderful creatures including Nemo clownfish living within their anemones homes.
Ocean Depths Zone -
Your journey ends within our Ocean Depths Zone, walk through our spectacular underwater tunnel featuring an amazing array of British Marine creatures. See up close the Starry Smooth hound sharks and our graceful Rays and other fascinating creatures that can be found around the British Isles swimming all around you!
Presentations & Feeding Demonstrations
Each and everyday we provide educational and entertaining presentations, touch encounters and fun, creative play sessions. Our Hands On team are always available to answer any questions from silly animal names, weird fish personalities and funny facts to be found at Weston SeaQuarium directly from the staff that care for them.

SeaQuarium Gift Shop
You will find all your favourite gifts within our shop, from sea life stationery to a large selection of soft toys, including sharks, turtles, rays and clown fish. We offer a wide range of games, books, toys and many more for the perfect souvnier!
Driftwood Café
Enjoy amazing views of the Somerset coastline within our recently refurbished Café, offering visitors a wide selection of drinks, both hot and cold, snacks, including chips, pizza, burgers and hotdogs. And a trip to the seaside wouldn’t be the same without an ice cream! All available to either eat in or take away.
