| Its moving day for our Freshwater Stingrays – but don’t be alarmed, we have some fantastic NEW Baby Freshwater Stingrays! The themed exhibit within the Rainforest River Zone was built in 2009 to house our resident Freshwater Stingrays as part of an investment in new attractions at the Weston super Mare SeaQuarium. Displays Manager, Hayley Upham, was keen to find these beautiful creatures a new home and a local zoo kindly offered to take care of our large stingrays, enabling us to adapt the exhibit for our new Baby Freshwater Stingrays! Over the Whitsun School Holidays, SeaQuarium will be asking its visitors to enter a Competition to come up with the best names for the NEW Baby Stingrays, and be in the running to win a FREE Family Pass to come and visit the babies again and an Adopt-A-Sea-Buddy pack – including a name plaque besides the exhibit and fishy fact sheets! Although our Baby Freshwater Stingrays were captive bred, they are naturally native to the rivers of South America, however due to the destruction of their natural habitats through logging and mining these beautiful creatures are becoming endangered! Our exhibit also highlights their cause and features some amazing facts! The SeaQuarium will also be offering its visitors an amazing experience, our Animal Encounters include helping to feed some of the fish, having the opportunity to stroke one of our temperate marine Rays or even taking part in our Rockpool demonstrations! SeaQuarium will feature different activities daily throughout the Whitsun School Holidays. Open daily from 10am and don’t forget your ticket is valid ALL day! |
