| SeaQuarium Rhyl are celebrating the Jubilee weekend in their own unique way with a Talent show where two seals will compete against each other. The audience are going to have the vote on which seal should win the contest and the winning seal will make an appearance in front of the SeaQueen. The resident Fur seals, Tondy and Solo, will need lots of encouragement from the audience to put on their best performance along side their keeper Stacy. Stacy said “Both seals have been practicing their routines daily and every time the seals see the union Jack, Tondy salutes and Solo takes a bow”. It should be a close contest and lots of fun for all to see as we have a special Union Jack meal of fish in ice for the winner of the Talent show and both seals would love to win this treat. Stacy added “The seals love showing off especially Tondy who has remarkable skills, such as her incredible new high ball jump that leaves everyone wanting more, but Solo may surprise everyone and win over the audience with her underwater antics”. Stacy went on “The competitive streak that the seals show is natural, as in the wild they would compete for food, space and other resources”. Keeping in theme SeaQuarium will be celebrating world ocean day on 8th June by making visitors aware of the fantastic native species that you can find around the British coast. There will be conservation talks and lots of facts on the species that you will see and how you can help the environment if you wish. In the aquarium you can walk through the underwater tunnel where you can learn more about British ray’s and sharks. Here you will see also pollack, wrasse and the superbly camouflaged turbot that live harmoniously alongside the world’s most efficient predators in the 160,000lt ocean ecosystem. SeaQuarium is also offering family – friendly activities throughout the holiday with face painting, quiz trails, colouring and story time for all age groups with lots of prizes to be won. |
