Something 'EGG'-CITING is happening this Easter at SeaQuarium Rhyl

All through the Easter holidays until Sunday 27th April, Rhyl SeaQuarium will be holding a whole host of extra Easter activities for the whole family, which are all included in the standard admission price. The ‘Easter Eggstravaganza’ is a brand new event for SeaQuarium and is one that is being staged for the first time this Easter.
Children will be encouraged to follow a free ‘Eggsplorers’ Trail and unscramble a secret Easter password to win a chocolate prize. Gemma Southall events assistant says “It was so much fun putting the eggs in to the tanks and straight away the spider crab started playing with one of the eggs that we placed in the tank the spider crab was with it all day, chucking it around and moving it”.
The common spider crab (Maja squinado) is an unusual looking speciesIt has a heavily armoured body covered in short and strong spikes and due to its appearance it is also commonly known as the spiny spider crab. The identifying feature of the spider crab are their eight long walking legs and two even longer clawed arms, it’s their natural behaviour to hold on to rocks and move them around, the crab also uses seaweeds and sponges to blend into their environment as a form of protection and to hide as they tend not shelter in crevices and holes.
There will also be an Easter Eggsplorers Craft Club where children can make their very own Easter Bonnet and enter an Easter Bonnet Competition by uploading their photos to Facebook with lots of prizes to be won for the best bonnets!
The resident seals that live at Seaquarium’s Sea Lion Cove can be seen at 1pm and 3pm with special Easter-themed shows and encounters. During Easter Eggstravaganza all of the Seaquarium exhibits will be open as usual.
