PIRATES AND PRANKS APLENTY FOR SEAQUARIUM RHYL
Release Date: Thursday 23 July 2015
It’s a month of Ahoy me Hearties, of ruckus, hoots and hollers and tales of the sea as the SeaQuarium, Rhyl is taken over by a merry band of Pirates for the entire month of August.
Back by popular demand, the Pirate Event at SeaQuarium is being held from 1st to 31st August. The whole centre will be overrun with Pirates and special pirate inspired celebrations will be held each day. As well as all the usual aquatic displays, including outdoor Sea Lion Cove, visitors will also be able to take part in colouring competitions and special talks presented by a bounty of buccaneers.
Staff at the Centre have been busy practicing the art of how to become the perfect pirate for the past few months and getting into character ready for the numerous themed activities and demonstrations that are planned. Even the Seal Show has had a pirate makeover. A new family seal show with South African Fur Seal shipmates, Solo and Tondy can be seen daily at 1.00pm and 3.00pm. The new Seal Show is also included as part of the standard admission charge.
Seal Keeper, Katie Todd, explains, “ The shows that we do are so popular and the audience’s love to shout and encourage the Seals. Throughout the new Show, I’m sure they will play their part and cheer the seals on into becoming exceptional pirates. The South African fur seals love nothing more than to show off their competitive side as they try to escape from Captain Pete’s Deadman’s Cove with the help of their human shipmates. As the audience would expect, there are more than one or two pranks, too!”
Captain’s Craft Club will be open throughout the month and will provide a variety of hands-on activities such as flag making, storytelling and lots of swashbuckling fun and games. Visitors also get the chance to buy a treasure map for £1.99 to search for hidden clues around the Centre to receive a reward from the crew.
SeaQuarium is open daily from 10am with last admission at 5pm. Standard admission prices are £9.50 for adults and £8.50 for children. Further information is available from SeaQuarium’s official website: www.seaquarium.co.uk or by telephone on 01745 344660
