SeaQuarium Celebrate the Finals of Wimbledon.
Release Date: Monday 30 June 2014
This year Rhyl SeaQuarium will be celebrating the Wimbledon championships Final weekend on 5-6th July 2014 in the most traditional way, by introducing some of their new species to strawberries.
New for 2014 SeaQuarium has opened a ‘Fantastic Phobia’ zone where you are challenged to face your fears. This area is home to a number of species not previously displayed at the SeaQuarium. These include Snails, Cockroaches, Locusts, Millipedes and Rats.
Recently staff at SeaQuarium have been trialling various foods as a form of enrichment and have found that amongst others strawberries have proved to be a particular favourite.
Talks presenter Benn Etheridge said “Most of the new creatures would naturally eat fruit, so strawberries are a fitting addition to their diet. Strawberries contain healthy antioxidants which help to boost the immune system, and are also a great source of Vitamin C.”
Benn added “We will be offering the strawberries to the exhibits during our talk and feeding demonstration which takes place at 11:30am daily. Guests will even be able to watch the rats, (who especially love the strawberries!) take their treats from their keeper’s hands.”
SeaQuarium will be open as usual throughout the weekend. Standard admission prices are £8.99 for adults and £7.99 for children. There are a variety of talks and demonstrations throughout the day where guests are invited to learn more about the weird and wonderful creatures that live in the oceans and beyond.
SeaQuarium is located on the promenade in Rhyl and is open from 10am daily with last admissions at 4pm. Further information is available from SeaQuarium’s official website: www.seaquarium.co.uk or by telephone on 01745 344660.
