SEAQUARIUM STAFF JOIN THE GREAT BRITISH BEACH CLEAN
Release Date: Thursday 17 September 2015
Staff at SeaQuarium Rhyl are calling for volunteers to help them with this year’s Great British Beach Clean.
The Great British Beach Clean is a yearly national event that aims to clean up the beaches all around Britain. This year will be the 30th year that the event has run and over 300 beaches are now cleaned during the weekend.
SeaQuarium Rhyl will be hosting their own beach clean on Saturday 19th September. To take part you can register on Facebook or meet at the SeaQuarium at 10.15am on the morning ready to start at 10.30am.
SeaQuarium’s Sea Champion, Sue Hutton, who is organising this year’s event at SeaQuarium says, “Rubbish found in our seas and washed up along our beaches spells disaster for many of the sea creatures that end up trying to eat it or become tangled in it. It is our responsibility to preserve and protect all sea life and therefore staff want to play their part in keeping our part of the coastline free of rubbish. Staff would be delighted if local people and visitors to the area could help them in their quest. The plan is to collect any rubbish from the stretch of beach outside the SeaQuarium. Everything collected will then be collated and the results used in the national annual report”.
