25TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS!!
Release Date: Wednesday 21 June 2017
Staff at SeaQuarium Rhyl are busy gearing up for their 25th anniversary celebrations that take place on 24 and 25 June 2017.
This lively tourist attraction, occupying a Rhyl beachfront location in Denbighshire, is the largest aquarium in North Wales and first opened its doors to the public on 25 June 1992.
It currently houses ten different zones with an array of species, as well as the outdoor Seal Cove. There is an underwater tunnel where guests can watch British sharks, conger eels and rays swimming by and a jellyfish exhibit which features an interactive light display.
Attraction Manager, Colette Macdonald, said “As one of only a handful of remaining large tourist attractions within the town, we continue to strive to provide a state-of-the-art attraction with excellent customer care standards for all the family and are asking past visitors to share their special memories on SeaQuarium Facebook page.
“Whilst the centre has maintained many of its original features and exhibits, there have been some popular additions over the years. The most dramatic change occurred in 2009, when‘Seal Cove’ was created. Using the latest in-water quality technology and modern construction techniques, the Seal Cove provides an unparalleled view on the world of seals and sea lions.”
She added,“We have a new seal, Nelly, who has just had her 4th birthday and is a new addition to the Seal Cove, housing four South African fur seals and three harbour seals. Visitors are given the opportunity to see both native and non-native species of seals with only the thickness of the glass separating them.
“Local people have been employed as part of our new team and are provided with expert training to care for our new arrivals. Visitors are invited to watch our superb and interactive shows twice a day, alongside several other educational talks and feeding demonstrations which occur throughout each and every day.”
SeaQuarium’s 25th birthday celebrations take place throughout the weekend and guests can meet the amazing seals as well as join in with a variety of competitions and activities. To celebrate their 25 years, as an extra special birthday treat, the centre is offering visitors 25% off standard admission over the weekend. Guests just need to visit the SeaQuarium Rhyl Facebook page and present the voucher upon arrival.
